Yeah..ok
TTTHHHHHBBBBTTTTT! I'm still having trouble with ALL the weight I want to lose! So here's my new plan...I'm going to get a rec center membership w/tax returns and the kids and I are heading there right after school EVERY DAY! That should at least get us (me) moving more! We'll see how that goes.. until then, I'm going to try yet again to lower my Coke intake every day. I have stocked my fridge with carrots and celery and string cheese. I've been snacking on those daily. We'll see....

Keeping it up.
So, today I hopped on the scale. I'm grinning! I'm boogying! I'm a bit excited. Can we say fifteen pounds!! Holy Guacamole! I even have stopped walking for two weeks cuz I've had a cold. David and I went shopping for new jeans for me last weekend cuz all mine are falling off. Wahoo! (Did I say I was dancing?!) Now, I want to focus on my tummy pooch. I've had it for 14 years. My goal is to get rid of it once and for all. Any suggestions??

WAHOO!
Okay, confession time. I have never not been able to lose weight. Ever. This summer was not good for me. Mom and Teri were doing so awesome and NOTHING was working for me, though I had been seriously trying for six months. I was not a happy person. (Some of you may have noticed. ;). I was also off my thyroid pills which did not go well either.) So, as soon as David got a job, I started Nutri System. Which was hard, because I didn't like the idea of not being able to do it myself. But desperate times.....
For the two weeks I have been on it, I have learned a ton. I was still eating too much. (Even though I had cut my food intake by half!) I was not drinking enough water, and the food I was eating were all the wrong foods.... The first week was hard. I was hungry ALL DAY LONG, EVERY DAY. I also had two birthday's and family come to visit. Which means lots of yummy yummy food. But, I stayed strong. The second week was much easier. Now, I don't even eat my allotted amount. I do eat lots and lots and lots of raw vegetables. Which, I don't like and have never done before. But, it's totally working. In two weeks, I have lost EIGHT awesome pounds!!!!! YEAH!!!! I'm so happy. I'm going to continue through to Thanksgiving, see where I am, and decide if I want to keep going to Christmas.
I was thinking of not saying anything then surprising everyone at Christmas. But, I'm way too excited. Thanks to Teri and Mom for being such great inspirations!
I'm also wanting a bike. Teri, you'll have to give me some hints on what to look for.
PS I'm also walking up and downhill for 30 minutes a day while pushing two kids in a double stroller. My legs are getting into awesome shape.

P.S.
I forgot that I was going to tell you a few little things that I add in for work outs. I'm mowing my lawn every 3 days, so I don't have to bag. It's a good workout and it's so much better not bagging and emptying that bag. I'm trying to move whenever I can. Putting laundry away, I don't do it efficiently, I take each person's pile to their room, put it away, then go back down for the next pile, so I'm doing more stairs. I also pay more attention to my muscles while going up the stairs and take them slower so I feel them. When I'm doing the walking portion of my 5K program, I flex my toosh and triceps while I'm walking. Training for my Tri in 2012, it's ON BABY! Weight loss since Jan. is 23-26 lbs (I fluctuate 2-3 lbs daily) Went from a size 12-14 to a size 4 or 6 depending on the brand. Wasn't sure if my body would do a 6, couldn't remember last time I was, but.. super Yay!
Just remembered!
I was getting ready today and remembered that I'm supposed to be blogging workouts. Oopsie. Well, we've all been sick. It started with Sean, he had bronchitis for a few weeks, then Jack started coughing and after a few weeks of coughing I took him to the Dr and he had ear infection and tonsillitis which is technically pharyngitis (awesome). Chloe and I started getting it, now Connor! Hopefully next week we will all be over it! It had been since Fri. since I got out to do anything for a workout, and the week before I did nothing! Sean was in Kansas City and I didn't get a sitter cause Jack was sick, so I took 5 days off.. AWFUL! I felt like I'd totally digressed in my running so I found a new couch to 5K podcast here. I really like it so far. I'm only on week two, but they play decent music, which is a help. I highly suggest it. It's been good starting over since I can't breathe with this darn cold. This morning Connor was home sick, so I took advantage and just ran around the block for a little over 2 miles. Then I did the booty boot camp workout that I think I posted but here it is anyway.
Here's for the big, fun news. Sean got me a new road bike, for my birthday, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza, Mothers Day, Wife's Day and whatever else we can think of. We went WAY over budget, but... whadyado?
This is Lexa, the newest member to the Drew bike family (we have a few bikes). She's a beauty. This is her at the bike shop before her first fitting, still with all of her reflectors on and the wrong pedals. This bike is so much fun! It's fast and furious! I can't wait to do some hills and longer rides. It'll be fun.
I ordered a swimming suit for laps at the pool, it came yesterday and the butt is too big (a happy surprise) but think I'm going to have to go for a two piece because I'm having a hard time finding a long torso suit on my budget. Sean's voting for the camo one, my fave!
I'm having some serious weight loss hair loss. Hair is coming out by the handfuls and is feeling really thin. I know you guys wouldn't mind that problem, but I don't have super thick hair to begin with. I need to up those fruits, veggies and nuts I think. I thought I was gorging on nuts and fruit, but need some help in the veggie area I guess. Our garden wasn't very forth coming with our greens, and I guess I can't get all of my nutrients on tomato's alone, bummer. Maybe the garden has more in it, I just need to weed.. oops.
Here is a super picture, just for fun.
This is bright and early in the morning, I was sending a pic to my sis of the "incident". I guess I'd been accident free for too long, it was time. I was at mom and dad Drew's picking pears (which are deeeelish, by the way). I reached a bit too far and the ladder went down, I was trying to grab branches so I could do a graceful drop, but I was only in reach of the teeny tiny branches and I went down, a little harder that what is pretty. I had this beauty as seen above, a nice gouge and scratches on my ribs, one on the back of my calf and bruised my butt pretty good. It's all better now, I think my butt is a little out, I may need to make a trip to Dr. Grant.
Off to weed now! Get a good one in today ladies! Love ya all!

Sweating sweating sweating...
Just got done mowing the lawn and I feel like I've been dunked in a hot sticky tub of goo... yes, that much sweat rolling off of me...better be taking some fat with it!
This muggy muggy year has made me appreciate our 'normal' dry heat. I don't think there have been many days that I haven't been covered in a fine sheen of sweat this summer. I always loved going to California and taking a deep breath of cool ocean air, but if the trade off is the always damp and sticky feel of constantly sweating, I'm all for desert.

Way to go girls.
Good job. I hope we all get back in the saddle again. I gained 4lbs going to Heber camp, but I have since lost them and 2 more. I am earnestly trying for 20 more. We will see how I do. Love you all. Thanks for your support.

Back in the Saddle Again!
Kids are back in school. No excuses! C'mon ladies let's make those hiney's tiny. I'm starting today!! After my chocolate cake...
Keep on keeping on!
Ok...so the whole Heber Valley Camp thing got Dudley and I up and moving, and it felt great! We even thought about taking a long walk yesterday, but wound up being way too tired from the weekend..(lack of real sleep and all), so we just walked down the canal a bit. However...we are motivated to get out and do more stuff more often!
Douglas loved 'hiking' around up there.. so we're going to focus on more hiking trips. Cheap and effective!
So stay tuned for future hiking reports! (And hopefully weight loss to go along with them...)

Takin' a break....
So, I've been taking after Teri this last week too. We had some of David's family stay with us twice this last week. So, I didn't exercise and ate very well. Bummer. I was feeling a bit guilty after sitting hunched over Sabrina's DS with her for two hours, and so I decided to get off my fanny and go swimming. Well, my neck was already stiff and because of my guilt I decided to swim lots and lots of mini laps. (Which is all I can do in my pool.) Forward stroke one way, back stroke the other way. Even after David got the kids out of the pool, I still swam for another 30 minutes and only got out because my neck was really starting to hurt. Then, at 2:00AM I woke up and couldn't move my neck.. At all! Holy Moly, it was like whiplash that went halfway down my back. I was miserable for two days afterwards which resulted in more no exercise days.
Moral of the story: Don't overdue it because of guilt. It just causes you greater problems in the long run. (Trust me. I've done it lots of time and still can't learn my lesson.)

Losing Momentum
I've been slacking off on my daily workouts. I started not feeling very good and took some days to rest and rest. Now I'm having a hard time getting back in the saddle again. I took the little ones on a 3 mile walk the day before yesterday and my heart rate got up to 88% of max so I was walking at a good pace. I think we are going to have to break down and get a gym membership.
Yesterday we all went swimming, I didn't really do much though. I gotta get going again!

Walking walking walking!
Ok.. I got some good walking in today!
I parked at Pioneer park this morning in a free 2 hour parking spot, then walked up to Gateway pushing Drew in an umbrella stroller. Then we met up with Stacie and kids, headed up to the fountain and let the kids play in it for about 2 hours. I then needed to move my car! So I took Drew with me, (he wouldn't stay with Stacie) and HOOFED it back down to Pioneer park pushing Drew in the stroller! (About 5 blocks)
I jumped in the car, drove it down to a different spot, parked again, and HOOFED it the 5 blocks back to the fountain.
Then we walked 2 blocks back down to the planetarium, played there for about an hour, jumped on trax, rode over to temple square, walked around there for another 40 or so minutes, and then I realized it had been over 2 hours since I'd moved the car...
So we left Stacie & kids at temple square to finish touring, jumped on trax, got off at the planetarium again, and walked the 3 blocks back to the car. So overall I walked 20 blocks + temple square today! Which according to Answers.com a mile in Salt Lake is more than 7, but less than 8 blocks. So I walked about 2.8 miles today.. more with the wandering around.
So exercise for today accomplished!

broke the plateau
I finally broke the plateau I have been on for two weeks or more. It didn't help that all the family was here and the food was so good. I am tending Shellie's kids and after only one day, I am down a pound. Maybe I can loose a pound a day. We can only hope. Good job the rest of you.

My muscles hate me.
I pushed it super hard this week and my muscles have decided to fail me. Biking Wednesday, swimming Thursday and running on Friday. Couldn't get out of bed this morning. Maybe by tonight I'll be able to pull it together for a little yoga. I find that if I switch activities from day to day, I won't get bored. Still not losing a lot of weight, but my muscles are getting pretty toned. It feels great! Now, if I can just stay away from those cookies.....
My First Race
I'm signing up for my first 5K . I'm still way way way slow (13 min miles), however I'm going to sign up so I have a goal and I can push myself a little harder (I really have no idea what I'm doing as far as training goes). My 5K is on Aug 28 (Connor's first football game). I found a new app that I like better than any of the others I've used (so far, I've only used it twice), it has some really great features. It's called Log My Run, it's awesome! They have different training downloads that people can post to it that you can use. I started a 5 week to 5K yesterday.
Yesterday I walked a mile at the track then jogged and walked a little on the second mile. Connor and Sean did some sprints. Sean about killed himself, and even mowed the front yard and the back until Connor took over. When we came home I did 30 min of yoga, 3 sets of 15 girl push ups and 3 sets of crunches 20 straight, 20 to the left and 20 to the right.
I just got back from my 2 mile jog/walk (13 min miles again). I'll get faster, but it's a little discouraging seeing that pace. I just need to remember I'm just starting out and I've never run before, I've always really really really hated it, so I'm doing pretty dern good, I guess! I'm sure I'll do something else today, I just haven't made up my mind yet.
I started sanding Chloe's new bed, it's a pretty good right arm work out!

Good Shoes!
I'm here to say that good fitting shoes make all the difference in the world!!! I've been running in Asics for several months and they have given me no problems at all, but were breaking down. I've had them for over a year and I think they decided they were all done. I tried on some brand new Nike's while I was getting Connor some football stuff and I fell in love, they were so cushy under the ball of my foot, it was heavenly. I thought about it for a few days and bought them online from roadrunnersports.com.
I went right out for a run when they got here and ran for the next 3 days in them. My feet and legs got progressively more sore, then my hips hurt too. The shoes went back (because they have an awesome return policy) and I got some more Asics (if it ain't broke...).
I haven't run in them yet, they just came today and I'm so excited!!!! Jack and Connor just got some new running shoes also (thank you for the lovely sale Big 5). Connor is going to start running, he's playing football now and he's going to have to run and build up his endurance. I'm so excited to have him start running!!Sean and I took Jack and Chloe with us to the track last weekend and they both ran with us. Jack was rockin' it. He kept up with Sean for about 1/4 of a mile and ran for a 1/2 mile. He did so well, so I happily bought him some running shoes.
